Ingrid Skoglund

Ingrid is a contemporary experimental artist based in a messy home studio in Surrey. Ingrid says, "I love experimenting with a medium; trying to push it to make it do the unusual. I create watercolour paintings with alcohol ink or powdered ink thrown across the canvas and sprayed with water or isopropyl to see what happens."

Ingrid usually, but not always, finishes a watercolour with a beeswax glaze which makes a watertight seal that does not necessarily need glass, making the piece much lighter and more approachable without the barrier. Much of the artwork showing here with Ginger Cactus Art has been created with acrylic mixed with silicone oil (they really don’t like each other), chasing this mix around a large canvas with a cake spatula or a hot hairdryer on full blast and finished off with a blowtorch to create some extraordinary effects.

When you buy one of her pieces, you own something truly original and unique as Ingrid cannot replicate what she has created.
