Julie Latham aka Puffin Jools
Growing up, Julie’s life was focused on her love for animals. She really looked forward to her farm holidays in Cornwall.
She studied art at school but drawing bowls of fruit on a table was not her thing. She wanted to be more hands on, creating and making a mess. Unfortunately, Julie went to an all-girls school that did not offer the exciting stuff like woodwork and metalwork; she was so jealous of the projects her brother brought home.
Julie left school and instead of the Arts and Craft route she followed her heart and spent 18 years in animal husbandry, then a further 18 years in horticulture, which she still does part time. Julie’s animal fix is fulfilled by her adorable crazy cats and a geriatric dog.
Over the years Julie has dabbled in many (too many – her words) crafts, but thankfully she has focused recently on a few which she really enjoys the most. These include stained glass, glass mosaic, wool felting, pyrography (wood burning), wire and wood sculptures.
These crafts are all inspired by her love of nature, wildlife and the countryside around her.
